Solana DEX data APIs compared

By Lunar Shadow Labs · Updated

There are two ways to get real-time Solana DEX trades: take a raw transaction stream (Helius LaserStream, Shyft gRPC) and decode it yourself, or use a decoded trade feed (Bitquery, Codex, Lunar Shadow Labs) that hands you trades with amounts and prices already worked out. Within each group, the big difference is how you pay: flat, by credits, by stream-minutes or by message.

Prices and plan details below are as listed on each provider's own pricing page on 2026-10-08. They change; check the linked page before you decide. We sell one of these products, so we kept to what each provider publishes about itself.

Raw stream or decoded feed?

A raw stream gives you everything on chain, which is what you want if you trade on programs no feed decodes, or need account state as well as transactions. The cost is the decoder: each DEX and launchpad has its own instructions and events, they change, and you have to work out base and quote, scale amounts by each mint's decimals and handle router-wrapped trades. Yellowstone gRPC vs a decoded WebSocket goes through that work in detail.

A decoded feed skips all of that: you receive one JSON message per trade, with amounts and price already worked out, and you're limited to the venues and fields the provider decodes.
